Hobonichi 2026 Pencil Board - Junji Ito

Hobonichi Pencil Board - Junji Ito

This pencil board is specially made for each of the Hobonichi Techo book sizes (A6, A5, and Weeks). It features artwork from Tomie, the debut and one of the most iconic works of horror manga artist Junji Ito. Using original illustrations from the manga, created nearly 40 years ago in 1987, the designs capture the eerie, one-of-a-kind world Junji Ito is known for. All three sizes are finished with a shimmering holographic effect on the front to evoke Tomie’s elusive beauty and mysterious allure.

Tomie – Green for A6 size features a page from the Tomie: Passing Demon chapter, showing Tomie cheerfully strolling along. The back is a soft lavender color with an illustration of Tomie, raised in a grand mansion, dancing happily without a care.

Tomie – Red for A5 size showcases a panel from Tomie: Adopted Daughter, with Tomie staring ahead—elegant, yet cold. The back, in gray, depicts a young Tomie skipping along in a foreboding scene where she encounters something unsettling.

Tomie – Pink for Weeks size also uses artwork from Tomie: Adopted Daughter, trimmed into an oval shape. The back is light purple and shows the haunting scene of a girl discovering Tomie’s eerily beautiful hair in her father’s study.

    About Junji Ito and Tomie
Junji Ito was born in Gifu Prefecture in July 1963. In 1986, he won an Honorable Mention for his submission Tomie in the first Umezu Award, published in Monthly Halloween (Asahi Sonorama). This horror series became his debut work and remains his most famous.

Tomie, the main character, is a beautiful young woman with long black hair and a beauty mark under her left eye. She is arrogant and malevolent, proclaiming herself to be the most beautiful person in the world. Like a siren, Tomie uses her charm to lure men in and ruin their lives. Eventually, her lovestruck victims descend into madness and resort to murder—but Tomie always regenerates, returning to life to repeat the cycle.
